How Silgo can help?
Legislation requires that all waste oil is stored correctly in manufactured tanks. Silgo supply a range of waste tanks that meet all of the latest legislation requirements.

Silgo are one of the very few lubricant specialists who offer a waste collection service.

This service is available to both our Automotive and Industrial customers. It is a simple service.

Specific waste containers are clearly marked and delivered direct to your site. Once the containers are ready for collection, call our sales line and we will arrange the collection.
  • Background to legislation
    Since 1st March 2002 'The Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) Regulations 2001' have been in effect

  • Who needs to comply?
    Any industrial, commercial or institutional site storing 200 litres or more oil above ground outdoors in one or more containers.

  • What's the timetable?
    New oil stores from 1st March 2002
    Existing oil stores located within 10 metres of a watercourse from 1st September 2003



  • ALL remaining existing oil stores need to comply from 1st September 2005
  • What is required?
    Tanks, drums and any other containers storing oil must be stood within a bund or drip tray.

    The bund must:
    1. hold 110% of the contents of the largest container, OR
    2. 25% of the total capacity stored, whichever is the greater
    For single drums, a drip tray with a capacity of 25% of the contents would normally be acceptable.
